At 31, I bring over 13 years of experience behind the camera, having shot close to 300 weddings both in the UK and abroad. My work spans a wide range of genres — from emotionally charged wedding days to high-energy concerts, behind-the-scenes portraits, and professional sporting moments.

I originally worked under the name Shot by Jay. I now work as By Jake Johnson, reflecting the evolution of my work into weddings, events, sport, and commercial photography.

My journey began documenting the work of K Koke, capturing live shows, music videos, and personal milestones. That early experience led to further work with artists such as Krept & Konan, including photographing the launch of their dessert restaurant, Crepes & Cones.

From concert halls to kitchens, I’ve photographed food, events, lifestyle, and portraits for social media, branding, and press. I’ve also had the privilege of capturing landmark events such as the Sky Arts Awards in 2017 and the closing of the iconic London Studios (TLS) in 2018 — moments that further shaped my approach to storytelling in fast-paced, high-profile environments.

I was later invited by Carly Brown Photography to second shoot weddings, where I developed a deep respect for the discipline. In a single day, you capture architecture, emotion, fleeting moments, family dynamics, food, style, and story. It’s a demanding environment that requires creativity, reliability, technical precision, and strong people skills — and one I approach with total focus and professionalism.

Whether I’m shooting a sold-out gig, a Premier League footballer, or a quiet moment between two people in love, I approach every shoot with the same goal: to create timeless, meaningful imagery that feels as real as the moment itself.
